I notice that Herajasa and I have been corresponding via Blogger for more than two years, about half the duration of the average marriage in Doha. And that's without the distraction of regular sex.
The advantages of virtual friendship are numerous, and include the avoidance of factors that bedevil the real thing.
Things like halitosis, flatulence, strabismus, body odour, dandruff, an annoying laugh, drooling, blepharospasm or chorea are a significant distraction to conversation, but remain irrelevant to written communication.
We form a vague impression of our virtual friend from his or her writing, which is a more considered form of communication than conversation, and presumably better reflects his (or her) character.
I imagine Herajasa looks something like Michael Caine.

... actually, it's the other way around.
Take another look at Mr Caine - I see kindness, compassion, humour, tolerance, empathy, and generosity.
And I appreciate our correspondence.
